Supporting the future of human spaceflight is an ambitious but exciting task, fully dependent on a robust data model. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for data management systems used daily by thousands of professionals building a road to space.
You will be a member of the Enterprise Data Management & Analytics team, comprised of top. tier data professionals ranging across the entire data management lifecycle.

Responsibilities include: Performing the full development lifecycle for automating batch and stream data processing systems, ensuring high performance, resiliency, and observability
Monitoring, maintaining, and improving Blue Origin's data pipelines and associated infrastructure, facilitating the greatest possible utilization and trust of our data assets
Working with upstream system administrators and downstream business customers to onboard data, ensuring high quality, discoverability, ease of use
Establishing ground rules, providing code reviews, and upholding the standards for code quality in our stack
Creating tools and workflows that empower rapid iteration and repeatable results, and crafting support for this toolset with our data community
Participating in a shared on-call rotation monitoring the health of the team's systems
Crafting documentation covering usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our data platform components
Qualifications: Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience
5- 8 years of direct experience developing data pipelines in a production context
Understanding and experience with modern software practices such as version control systems, CI/CD workflows, test-driven development
Strong SQL skills as applied to analytics context
Experience with AWS Services, especially Event Bridge, RDS, EMR, Lambda
Proficient with Python
Experience ingesting data from a wide variety of sources including NoSQL databases, REST endpoints, etc.
Familiar with Infrastructure as Code and relevant technologies
Knowledge and direct experience with Docker and container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
Experience with distributed data management systems such as Palantir Foundry and Databricks
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired: Experience with running & scaling orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster in production
Experience with near-real-time data streaming applications
Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark
Knowledge and experience with Linux
Familiar with the manufacturing, PLM tools, and supply chain operations
Experience with hierarchical data structures and recursive processing techniques
Experience with metadata-driven automation and data fabrics
History in Database Administration - emphasis on OLAP systems
Prior experience delivering results on a Data Lake project
Knowledge of implementing Data Quality monitoring and alerting systems
