The Assistant Manager works shifts on the floor and may be the leader of the coffeebar when there is not a specific Manager assigned to that location. The AM maintains and enhances Intelligentsias brand through supporting the coffeebar, acting as a liaison between staff and Manager, Regional Manager and Company. They also help to enhance the customer experience in the coffeebar. Responsibilities include assisting in new staff onboarding and training, ordering, overseeing assigned admin tasks, and maintaining Coffeebar appearance.

+ Work shifts on the floor to support business flow and daily schedules
+ Maintain a strong, positive and engaging presence on the floor.
+ Monitor espresso drinks, all versions of brewed-to-order coffee, batch brew coffee, fresh food items, and tea to ensure the quality standard is maintained.
+ Initiate and participate in specific monthly coffeebar sales initiatives as they relate to coffee and tea education, hospitality and community outreach.
+ Lead and coach the team on quality standards.
+ Communicate to the Manager any needs related to the coffeebar that should be addressed in the upcoming schedules.
+ Work with the coffeebar team to solve scheduling conflicts as they arise. Communicate these conflicts with your Manager/RM.
+ Teach baristas and shift leads how to engage customers through dialogue around coffee and tea.
+ Ensure that there is a strong dialogue with the Manager/Regional Manager throughout each week to ensure that staffing needs and capabilities are being met with the Barista and Shift Lead team.
+ General equipment maintenance/upkeep and coordinating with the tech department to resolve issues promptly that fall beyond our technical know-how.
+ Place weekly CRW & Vendor orders, maintain invoices, monthly inventory and communicate coffeebar needs to Manager/RM regularly.
+ Work with coffeebar staff - on an individual and group basis to ensure that staff are confident in their drink preparation skills, throughout the year.
+ Ensure training stays on track and forward movement is maintained until full capability is achieved.
+ Collaborate with Manager/RM to ensure that the coffeebars regular schedule and the training schedule are effectively written to allow for an adequate volume of training
+ Collaborate with Manager/RM to identify future leaders at Intelligentsia within the coffeebar. Encourage and support them in their training needs to achieve their goals
**Education and/or Experience**
+ High School Diploma or GED preferred.
**Qualifications**
+ Always professional with verbal and written communication.
+ Strong skills in the areas of bar work and coffee and tea preparation. Full bar capable preferred.
+ Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and sense of urgency with helping customers
+ Capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
+ Detail-oriented, logical, and methodological approach to problem solving
+ Flexible, with the ability to multitask in a highly demanding, sometimes stressful environment
+ Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
+ Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume
+ Ability to lead and cooperate successfully as a member of a team
+ Ability to communicate effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback

+ General computer proficiency

**Language Skills**
+ Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
+ Ability to work eight (8) hours each day while on your feet
+ Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 40 pounds
+ At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position
+ Fine hand manipulation for example: keyboarding, register screen use and latte art.
