We provide commercial support to our crude oil and natural gas production operations and to our refining and marketing network. We are headquartered in Houston, Texas, and have offices worldwide – including trading hubs in Houston, London, Singapore and San Ramon, California. Our trading professionals manage commodity transactions averaging five million barrels of liquids and five billion cubic feet of natural gas each day.
We are currently seeking a high-energy professional with sound business acumen and critical thinking skills to join Gas Supply and Trading (GSAT) as a Trading Analyst in Houston. The ideal candidate should be a natural collaborator, eager to learn and grow, and have an eye for innovation and continuous improvement. The Analyst will work closely with trading, marketing, operations, accounting, risk control, and other regional trading offices to analyze and report commodity earnings, exposures, and mark-to-market positions. The Analyst will also participate in multi-functional project groups on new business and process initiatives.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Actively contribute as part of a regional trading team through deal/order entry and maintenance, financial analysis, and reporting
Understand, manage, and explain commodity earnings, exposures, and mark-to-market positions
Problem solves front, mid, and back-office issues with support teams
Communicate trading activities and performance results to cross-functional management, traders, and support teams
Communicate with third parties such as customers and service providers
Streamline, automate, and simplify business processes
Provide back-up support for other GSAT Trading Analysts
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree
5+ years of experience in the energy industry
Demonstrated experience with analyzing data related to trading positions, MTM P&L, and accounting earnings
Collaborator and ability to work in demanding environment
Proven time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills
Excellent communication skills
Highly proficient in MS Excel
Digital mindset and innovative thinker
Passion to grow in the trading organization
Preferred Qualifications: Finance, Accounting or Engineering degree
Experience in a Trading and/or Sales organization
Knowledge of natural gas or NGL commodities
SAP, TRADE CAPTURE systems experience, specifically ENDUR and/or RightAngle experience a plus
