Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a part-time Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX . The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible to collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers)
Knowledge of cleaning of patient care equipment including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units
Knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate method of sterilization for particular equipment or supplies
Prepares and pulls instruments for cases and assist with OR room readiness
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of reusable surgical instrumentation, microsurgical instrumentation, and power equipment
Knowledge in pulling instruments for cases, excellent record keeping, knowledgeable re: state requirements, proper equipment usage, troubleshooting of the SPD equipment, and excellent infection control knowledge
Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Prefer a minimum of 3 years' experience in an acute hospital setting
Current SPD Certification from an accredited program or be grandfathered in
Current BLS
