Job Summary

As a Senior Spacecraft RF Payload Engineer, you will execute specialized work and direct product execution per schedule and budget, manage yourself as well as a multi-disciplinary team responsible for developing state of the art, space-based RF payloads for our customers. This includes communications systems to link our satellites to each other and to ground stations as well as perform critical missions on-orbit. You will need to work in a team-based environment to work on the unique challenges of developing flexible RF subsystems for small spacecraft on demanding timelines.

This position's internal job code isElectrophysics Engr/Scientist. Our team is currently hiring for level 4.

Responsibilities

• Leading space vehicle mission trade studies related to communications links and other RF payloads.

• Identify & define RF payload system requirements including both analog and digital RF processing subsystem specifications.

• Identify appropriate RF technologies to meet requirements.

• Leading teammates across multiple disciplines to design, build, test and deliver spacecraft communication products for multiple programs.

• Develop Millennium's own RF technologies from concept to flight readiness.

• Create RF payload subsystem manufacturing, integration and verification documents.

• Leading RF payload subsystem manufacturing, integration and verification.

• Operate RF payload systems on orbit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering.

• 5-10 years of experience with space or aviation RF & Communications system design, analysis, subsystem component selection, and system evaluation.

• Experience calculating link budgets including atmospheric & environmental effects.

• Experience defining antenna requirements and developing antenna systems. For example, pattern, gain, usage, pointing allocations, gimbal design, and/or power amplifier selection.

• Strong bias for getting things done with collaboration but minimal regimentation in a new emerging aerospace environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and testing algorithms for software defined radios.

• Experience with legacy and emerging digital communication modulation and coding, including understanding the various layers of the communication stack from physical layer up through link and networking layers.

• Experience with implementing various digital communication techniques in digital hardware (including general purpose processors and/or FPGAs)

• Experience designing, implementing, and testing antennas.

• Experience designing, implementing, and testing radios from piece parts level.

• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including system engineers, thermal and mechanical designers, and analysts, as well as environmental testing engineers.

• Ability to understand and efficiently work and switch between a variety of projects simultaneously to support varying business needs.

• Master's Degree or higher.

• Current SSBI.

Summary Pay-Range

Level 4: $126,650 - $186,250
