Description
Reports To: Controller or Director of Finance
Supervises: Accounting Clerk, Staff Accountants, Administrative Assistants
Job Purpose: Perform Accounting related duties on a professional level for two (2) properties: San Diego Marriott Del Mar and Doubletree by Hilton, San Diego - Del Mar. Works closely with the General Manager and Corporate Accounting teams, on key projects and organizational initiatives. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: accounts payable processing, daily revenue and cash reconciliations and other related finance projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with company guidelines and requirements.
Assist with ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
Oversee accounts receivable functions, accounts payable functions and general ledger reconciliations. Daily review of hotel revenues and posting in general ledger
Daily bank reconciliation for assigned properties.
Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
Full knowledge of accounts receivable and maintain accounts receivable systems, review the aging, reconcile daily hotel receivables, and review group master billings.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts for assigned hotels on a monthly basis.
Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Supports budget and forecasting activities.
May process or assist with payroll and oversee other payroll functions.
Assist in the formulation and verification of internal controls and policies to comply with requirements.
Weekly accounts payable invoice and payment processing and review.
Responds to inquiries from the Director of Finance and collaborates with department leaders regarding accounting issues
Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Partner with Human Resources in Hiring and Terminating associates. Training existing and new associates.
Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
Support Director of Finance with special projects and workflow process improvements. May include assisting with State and local operational tax filings.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills:
4-5 years of accounting experience preferably in the hospitality industry, including both accounts payable and accounts receivables.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from accredited four-year college or university.
Experience with accounting software, hotel PMS, hotel POS, Microsoft Office, and Sharepoint, etc.
Financial reporting, general ledger, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, income audit, accounts payable and reporting skills.
Strong administrative writing skills to be able to complete reports for ownership.
Use eyes, hands, and fingers at the same time to enter figures in books and forms, or to operate a calculator or personal computer.
Very good verbal communication skills to be able to interact with ownership and senior leaders.
Able to work flexible hours and extended shifts as required and to meet deadlines. May include working weekends and holidays as required to meet deadlines.
Requirements
Education
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Equivalent
Experience
Two years of A/P, A/R, secretarial or clerical experience required.
Salary Description
$75,000 to $85,000 per year
