Job Description Job Description Job Summary: HYBRID/REMOTE LOCAL to Houston, TX Opportunity!
Under the supervision of Director, Controllership, the Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for: Responsible for preparing and filing sales and use tax returns. Compile legal entity sales by state reports quarterly to monitor nexus requirements.
Essential Functions:
Handle requests for sales & use tax information including applicable taxability and rate determinations,
Reconcile general ledger state sales & use tax accounts, prepare all adjusting and accruing sales, income, and property tax journal entries.
Performing any local tax reporting and activities for the company
Compile documentation for sales & use tax audits and correspond/assist with state and local tax auditors as required.
Respond to state and local notices, assessments, and inquiries
Work with property tax consultants for annual property tax payments and negotiations,
Work with income tax consultant and assist with federal tax estimates and income tax return,
Provide day-to-day support of sales tax questions to accounting personnel.

A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Tax Accountant or similar role.
Requires knowledge about US sales and use tax practice and procedural in various jurisdictions, and federal and state income tax,
Conduct tax research as they arise,
Good understanding of tax law and stay up to date with current tax changes,
Demonstrates ability to plan and accomplish work to ensure critical tax deadlines are met,
Experience with ERP systems such as Workday, Great Plains, etc.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, MS Word and Power Point)
Public accounting experience
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Accounting or related field
Required Certifications:
CPA/CMA or working towards such certification
Physical demands and Equipment Use:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Employee must occasionally lift up to fifteen (15) pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
