Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision from the Associate V.P. and FCL
Principals, the Project Estimator projects and controls construction costs for
all assigned projects from inception to completion. The Project Estimator is an
integral part of the project team ensuring projects are delivered on time and
meet FCL standards.
POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
· Accurately estimate projects from conceptual through construction
documents per the project specifications.
· Assist in bringing the project to completion within budget
offering support to Project Managers.
· Develop and strengthen client relations.
· Review with Project Manager and team project costs to ensure
project is kept within budget.
· Establish and maintain subcontractor relations.
· Manage assigned projects under the direction of the Associate V.P.
· Perform additional assignments per client or management direction.
· Keep abreast of current pricing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain Profit and Schedule:
· Obtain and evaluate bids from subcontractors prioritizing quality
of work and negotiating pricing based on market rates.
· Establishes
construction budget by evaluating plans, updating specifications, identifying
and projecting costs.
· Maintain competitive bids.
Planning/Coordination:
· Work with architect, developer, and civil etc.
coordinating the initial stages of Design Build plans.
· Work with Business Development team to provide competitive
construction bids and prepare client presentations.
· Work with all team members explaining project
specifications and cost.
· Review all contract documents for potential conflicts or interpretation
issues.
· Review design documents for compliance to specifications and contract,
assessing needs of the project and projecting cost.
· Review all project plans, scopes, submittals and shop drawings for
specification compliance and design/constructability issues, projecting cost.
· Maintain Master cost lists by updating spreadsheets and gathering
current market rate data.
· Establish and commit to deadlines by coordinating with Associate
V.P./Developer etc.
Quality of Construction/Problem Solving/Relationships
· Resolve cost discrepancy by gathering and analyzing information.
· Maintains continuity among Clients, Production, Operations, and
Corporate divisions by effective communication.
· Establish and maintain vender relations.
· Network with other professionals in the Industry to assist in
maintaining the reputation of FCL.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL:
· Mobility on and around construction sites and inside the office.
· Works in inclement weather/high noise level at times during site
visits.
· Work at a desk or computer screen with keyboard for extended
periods of time.
· Frequently communicates with co-workers
and outside parties regarding daily project needs and expectations. Must be
able to exchange accurate information.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSES:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering,
Finance or related field and/or experience specifically related to high level
estimating.
· Two plus years working in the construction industry estimating
realm and/or significant internship experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of technical aspects, administration and project
management of all phases of Industrial Design Build projects.
· Knowledge of public and construction safety and security issues
and regulations.
· Knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal building
codes, statutes and regulations.
· Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret needs and develop
integrated, applicable solutions.
· Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to meet and exceed
project objectives and timeframes.
· Ability to effectively communicate with all parties in written and
oral form.
· Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in
problem solving.
· Ability to read, understand blueprints and job specifications.
· Ability to conceptualize developer ideas and solidify such ideas
creating plans and implementation.
· Ability to multitask by working on several bids simultaneously.
· Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Well-versed in software specific to job duties such as Construction
and Estimating software, MS Project, and MS Office and the ability to learn new
software.
