• The Department of Surgery at the University College of Medicine is seeking two Clinical Practice Physicians in the Division of Urology to join their Hospital in northern New York. The hospital is a progressive medical center with nine state-of-the-art OR's and Ambulatory Surgery Center.
• This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a community setting while having an active affiliation with Vermont's only Academic Medical Center; the only ACS verified Level 1 trauma center for the region providing tertiary care to patients from Vermont and Northern NY.
• Serving the patients from Upstate New York for decades, the local urologic surgery practice joined the faculty at the University of Vermont several years ago and now seeks additional colleagues to join the dynamic Urology faculty at the hospital. The Division seeks applications from individuals seeking a community Urology practice employment opportunity with a collegial and collaborative setting with University support.
• The incoming physician will work full time at the hospital and will join the existing Urology practice, which consists of 2 urologists and 1 nurse practitioner. The office is located in a medical office complex and is an easy 10 minute drive from the hospital. Employment is with the university Health Network Medical Group. A comprehensive benefit package, relocation and loan repayment are being offered.
The Hospital
• The Hospital is part of a six-hospital network serving northern NY and VT. They are a 300-bed community hospital located in the northeastern region of New York State serving a catchment area of approximately 170,000. The facility includes a 14-bed state-of-the-art critical care unit and 9 state-of-the-arts OR's.
The Community
• This is a picturesque community of 38,000 located on Lake Champlain (6th largest lake in the country) and at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It is one of the prime gateways between the US and Canada. You can readily travel in and out by highway, train, plane or boat. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, this is the place to be. Water, mountains, parks, beaches and trails are right at your fingertips. You will also find plenty of apple orchards, vineyards and microbreweries along our roadways. You will often hear residents boast about living where others vacation!
• This small city is very family oriented offering both public and private schools. Secondary educational opportunities include both the State University of New York/Plattsburgh and Clinton Community College. It is an extremely friendly community where everyone is warmly welcomed and celebrated. With our proximity to the French-speaking Province of Quebec, visitors are treated to many bilingual signs, menus and hospitality staff. This centuries old city is rich in history dating back to the Revolutionary war.
