This role oversees Newlab's information technology across locations, spanning infrastructure, network security, applications, business intelligence, and help desk. The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager with a strong generalist technology background spanning infrastructure, applications management, and help desk, who has demonstrated ability to work with internal and external teams to drive projects to completion with an agile spirit.

We are looking for someone with a self-starter mentality, and a strong desire to build the foundation of the IT organization of a fast growing company.

This is an in-person, five-day per week role at Newlab Brooklyn, supporting our team globally and our customers (members) locally.

Role & Responsibilities:

IT Management and Process:

Manage vendor relationships, with a primary focus on Newlab's MSP and local AV provider.

Manage the system onboarding and offboarding for employees, as well as device and hardware management.

Develop and implement IT processes to improve team efficiency, ensuring scalable operations globally and across multiple locations.

Provide training and support for the internal team to maximize IT utilization.

Lead and execute IT projects with a hands-on approach.

Analyze and assess IT costs vs. benefits to focus on optimizing IT expenditures.

Applications:

Evaluate the technology needs of the company and oversee the selection, implementation, and iteration of applications that support business objectives.

Lead the design and implementation of platform integrations to deliver scalable solutions that resolve business challenges.

Implement and maintain business systems, ensuring their effectiveness and scalability.

Help Desk:

Oversee and manage the IT service desk to ensure top-tier support and customer satisfaction for the global Newlab team and backup while on scheduled time off.

Provide hands-on management of the IT service desk for members (customers) based in the Brooklyn location, ensuring coverage and backup while on scheduled time off.

Network Infrastructure:

Design, implement, support, and manage Newlab's network infrastructure across locations.

Manage infrastructure, systems, and processes supporting business continuity and recovery of company information systems, including backup, fail-over, and disaster recovery capabilities.

Coordinate the delivery of services to user groups, ensuring uninterrupted IT service.

Cybersecurity:

Implement industry standards and best practices to protect company data, tools, applications, and information systems.

Drive the implementation of IT security protocols necessary to support compliance across the company.

Business Intelligence (Bonus / Growth Area):

Design, build, and manage a data warehouse to house key company data.

Maintain and optimize internal technology/integration processes to support data integrity.

Work with stakeholders across the organization to create and visualize business intelligence reporting.

Who You Are: You have 5+ years of experience working in a high-paced, dynamic environment such as a startup, fund, or consulting firm, where you have developed a proven track record of keeping IT operations on track and completing projects on time. You excel in low-resource environments and thrive in roles that require multitasking and resourcefulness.

You bring a broad range of generalist IT experience, including project management, software implementation, and operational management. You understand the critical role of IT in achieving overall business goals and are adept at aligning IT initiatives with these objectives.

Your approach is customer-first, and you possess a can-do mentality, always ready to tackle challenges and deliver effective solutions.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in scaling and managing the IT department of a fast-growing or startup company with multiple locations and a global presence.

Strong aptitude for developing and implementing IT business processes, with relevant experience in process improvement and optimization.

Demonstrated ability to implement and execute performance metrics, SLAs, and best practices in an IT organization.

Technical expertise in network, server, cloud, mobile, and security technologies.

Proficiency in the implementation and management of customer-facing enterprise systems and project management software.

Strong vendor management skills.

Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying and translating complex technical requirements or limitations for a broader audience.

Ability to manage multiple projects within a portfolio, prioritizing the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders effectively.

Experience in managing and collaborating with IT subject matter experts and consultants.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of general IT experience, with a focus on hands-on management and technical leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

We expect this role's base salary to be $90,000 - $140,000 commensurate with a candidate's experience.
