Job Description:

Dewberry is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for the Washington, DC area. Ideal candiate will be responsible for running low voltage conduit, fiber, and wire for telecommunication and building controls. Heavy conduit work in occupied buildings. Will work as part of a small team on location, under direction supervision of Journeyman electrician.

Responsibilities:

Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with electrical equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts, and building plans

Installing and mounting electronic controls, device, panels, sensors, and components

Performing interlock wiring as required

Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices

Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures

Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

Reading contract drawings

Trouble shooting EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays

Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.

Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

Must be on-site at all times during the performance of work on any of the systems, equipment and components.

Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand-tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment

Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment

Will perform all terminations of fiber and wiring to controls

Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment

Replaces faulty electrical components, such as relays, switches, breakers, and motor starters

Must be able to obtain and maintain all background, security, and clearances required to perform the duties of this position

Required Skills & Required Experience: Will have an apprentice electrician working with you all day

Professional on-site office and maintenance environment.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for eight hour periods of time

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. This includes completing timesheets and daily work reports

Physically able to move about in a maintenance environment to include walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and climbing ladders and stairs

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Must maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment.

Experience as a Electrical Team lead on electrical project over 500K sq ft.

Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
