GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Vice Provost for Operations and Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Business Analyst will administer faculty, adjunct faculty, industry/research faculty and senior/research associate hiring review and approval for the Office of the Provost; conduct ongoing business process review and analysis for continuous improvement; coordinate meetings; develop and conduct training and write reports. The role will coordinate hiring requests, timelines, and other activities with college budget managers, grants and contract administration, budget and finance, human resources and payroll.

Hybrid- 40% remote, 60% on-campus
Typical Business Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Qualifications
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or information systems. An advanced degree is a plus.
Possess three years of work experience in higher education with hiring information systems.
Demonstrated work experience with a broad constituency of faculty, administrators, and staff in a diverse, professional, and time-sensitive environment.
Demonstrated experience working with human resources for payroll administration; the ability to maintain confidentiality; and to act with diplomacy.
Knowledge & Skills Business process analysis experience, Visio preferred
Organizational charts and graphs
MS Office Professional including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Visio
Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms experience is highly desirable
Report writing skills, Cognos preferred
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
May supervise 1-2 student workers, as appropriate to the role.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility Administer the faculty hiring approval process for all new and continuing faculty hires.
Tenured and tenure-track faculty, teaching faculty, adjunct faculty, senior research/associates, and industry/research faculty joint appointments. Review and approve all hiring requests for the Office of the Provost (PAs and EPAFs).
Ensure supporting hiring documentation is accurate and complete before approval of each request.
Inform academic unit hiring representatives (end-users) when discrepancies are found and return submission for correction and follow-up as required.
Develop the faculty compensation calendar for cyclical deadlines in coordination with Human Resources and Payroll. Monitor PA and EPAF submission compliance by the hiring department with established HRIS and Payroll deadlines.
Report PA and EPAF non-compliance issues to senior leadership for intervention as appropriate to the issue.
Communicate cyclical deadlines for each faculty and senior/research associate hire type with the colleges and departments: Deadlines may vary by hire type and, by time status: New vs.

Key Responsibility Review, analyze, document, and update business processes for faculty hiring information and continuous process improvement. Evaluate business processes, assess needs, identify key challenges, and define user requirements, project scope, and deliverables with all Stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Provost for Administration and Systems to implement and deploy the Interfolio Faculty Search (FS) and Faculty Information System (FIS) modules to deliver efficient faculty hiring business processes: Form template development and maintenance

Key Responsibility Collaborate with the Asst. Vice Provost for Administration and Systems on training development for end-users.
Conduct end-user training for college budget managers, coordinators, and faculty in the Interfolio Faculty Search (FS) Module for faculty hiring and payroll approval.
Develop and continuously update user training materials using the institution's online learning platform (Canvas) and work in collaboration with the Center for Learning Innovation as appropriate to this work.

The Office of the Controller (for payroll) maps all related hiring-payroll data to Illinois Tech's enterprise system of record Banner Finance.
The Office of Global Studies (for International hires) maps all related Immigration, related data, and requirement fulfillment to its current enterprise system of record.
The Office of Research Administration maps all pre-grant-award-related faculty information data to/from Illinois Tech's research support system of record Cayuse.
The Office of Grants and Contract Accounting (for grant funding) maps all post-grant award-faculty-related data to/from Banner Finance - Grants and Contracts.
The Office of Technology Services maintains institutional data governance and data standards and administers Cognos Reporting, the Operational Data Store (ODS) and Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW).
