Customs Compliance Specialist

Ergomotion, the leading global sleep experience company, is looking for an experienced, dynamic and detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist. In this role you will ensure compliance with US Customs, transportation limitations and regulations and effectively manage ocean and transportation costs.
Position Objective: Under general guidance, you will create or maintain efficient inbound processes to ensure products reach their destinations safely, securely, and on-time meeting customers and company’s expectations and effectively managing cost while ensuring compliance with US Customs, transportation and other laws/regulations.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Interface consistently with internal groups such as Operations, Sales, Product, and Finance to communicate and manage Customs and Logistics related issues.
Keep abreast of US import/export laws and changes in regulations both here and abroad by attending relevant ACE training and Trade Compliance seminars and conferences. Keep superiors informed of any changes that may affect the business.
Maintain Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code database (including backup evidence) for all HTS classifications and ensure all HTS codes are current and accurate for US import of any goods shipped from our manufacturing facilities (China, Vietnam, Mexico). Future state to create Database within SAP for all products and parts becoming more involved in the process with the Product team.
Collect and compile evidence such as product specifications to support HTS codes chosen for each commodity in case of an audit.
Maintain and update as needed Ergomotion’s Customs Compliance Program and Policies, including managing and updating Ergomotion specific Customs Compliance Manual and oversee Department SOP’s for Import/Export Compliance.
Maintain Record Retention Process for “cradle-to-grave” customs documentation and conduct regular internal and external assessments of records for Customs Compliance, including Assists.
Organize internal departmental trainings on Compliance related issues such as Incoterms and other Logistics/Customs Compliance related topics.
What the successful incumbent brings:
2-5 years’ experience in customs compliance, logistics or similar role is required plus experience in multiple country manufacturing (China, Vietnam, Mexico preferred)
Cross Border and USMCA familiarity, Import/Export experience with Canada
HTS Classification Knowledge
Cross and ACE familiarity (Customs Systems)
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
SAP experience a plus
Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin a plus
Licensed Customs Broker a plus
