Join the St. Michael's Home for Children program of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston team as it is seeking a Shift Leader! As Shift Leader you are responsible for ensuring all children's safety and security through the provision of leadership and support to residential direct care staff on a given shift. The Shift Leader also assists in overseeing residential care services by coordinating activities, problem-solving & making decisions under the shelter coordinator and program director's direction. The Shift Leader conducts meetings, provides ongoing coaching and evaluative input on direct care staff, and participates in continuous quality improvement. The Shift Leader is a valuable part of the service delivery team.

You have a High School diploma or GED
You have one (1) year experience ORR Shelter or working in the child welfare field working with adolescents in a social setting.
You have one (1) year experience in a leadership role.
You are Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Valid Texas Driver's License and car insurance.

What you Deliver You provide leadership, supervision, and evaluative input to youth care workers (YCW) to ensure client safety, and security at all times assigning specific duties and responsibilities while assisting staff in achieving expectations in a team atmosphere. Conducts camera supervision surveillance for at least 30 minutes to ensure staff accountability. Night Shift Leaders also ensure YCWs are alert and conduct supervision checks on youth according to program procedures
You work with the treatment team to develop appropriate skills groups for clients. Effectively facilitate skills group meetings with clients
You provide supervision and evaluative input to kitchen staff to ensure proper food safety practices, meal preparation, food usage, storage, menu completion, stock rotation, and maintain appropriate pantry stock
You oversee all children's activities, ensure children in care are closely supervised by youth care workers, and ensure that children in care are provided with transportation during regular and special education, and recreational outings. Ensure that YCW/client ratios are always maintained following licensure guidelines, Cooperative Agreement, and program procedures
You are responsible for the ongoing completion of accurate documentation. Review of client activities/events that occurred while on duty. Review documentation for timeliness, accurateness, and professionalism. Be in constant communication with other service areas. Have working knowledge of computer programs and databases necessary to complete daily tasks including, but not limited to, population reports, e-mail communication, excel spreadsheets, scanning, and printing of adobe forms
As a night shift leader you must be able to perform duties such as creating client progress notes, weekly activity forms, monthly activity forms/calendar, and create new intake packets when needed. Night shift leaders support compliance by filing client progress notes, weekly activity forms, monthly activity/calendar, and redirection forms from previous shifts on a daily/weekly basis
While on duty, you are responsible for the security of the shelter. Ensure all security, alarm, and surveillance systems are always functional. Document building inspections and placing work orders for repairs as needed
You attend all mandatory meetings and training on time and distribute information to other staff about training or meetings. Assist in posting Catholic Charities agency or program level information for staff without computer access
You perform other duties as required by leadership.
This is a full-time position with a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and a 24/7 operational environment. Flexibility in working hours and a commitment to being available during non-traditional hours is essential for this role.
