BCV’s Marketing team helps investors and founders tell their stories more effectively. Encompassing Content, Brand, Events, Communications, and now, Design, BCV strives to deliver a best-in-class offering for founders to ensure their startup becomes known and understood.
POSITION OVERVIEW
BCV’s Design Director will drive BCV’s visual brand across all channels — web, social, content, events, presentations, emails and more. As a member of the Marketing Team, they will collaborate often with brand, events, content and communications team members, and work directly with our investors and founders as needed.
The ideal candidate has a passion for startups and a desire to learn about new topics and technologies in a fast-paced environment. This person will uplevel design work across all of BCV’s work, from event materials and signage, to presentation design, to content we publish on our blog and social media. A creative person who can tie their work to business objectives will succeed in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop design strategies for BCV across our various sectors and partners, designing for tentpole projects and short presentations with equal aplomb.
Autonomously project manage multiple workstreams at a time, with a keen attention to detail. Ensure stakeholders are consistently kept up-to-date on progress.
Work with partners to develop visually engaging, smart and data-rich presentations for speaking oppportunities both internal and external.
Develop artwork for BCV’s content on our website and social media channels.
Guide the brand and seek opportunities to evolve it, while adhering to our core tenets.
Develop freelancer relationships as needed for video projects, data visualization and illustrations while working to build new skills as an individual contributor as well.
Update our brand guidelines regularly and ensure consistency across all BCV materials.
Partner with early stage startups several times per year to help them develop their design language.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with high energy and an enthusiasm for building a new program form the early stages – we are looking for a self-starter who likes to experiment, build and own new approaches, and is comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment. Although no prior experience is required, a passion for start-ups, venture capital, and investing are a plus!
7-10 years of design experience.
BA or BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent work experience, and an articulate point of view on design systems.
Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Google Slides and PowerPoint.
Strong leadership presence and ability to communicate well with stakeholders inside and outside of BCV.
Team-focused mentality and a demonstrated history of cross-functional collaboration.
Startup experience and knowledge of our target audience: Founders.
Optional, but desired: video editing experience, including Animation
LOCATION
This is a hybrid role. Candidates should be based in or near San Francisco and able to come into the SF office 2x per week.
COMPENSATION
$175-200k total cash range
Additional compensation: In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance. Bain Capital also offers a competitive benefits package.
Final compensation will be determined by several components including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
