Job Description

Mechanical Design EngineerA multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team in Lexington, Kentucky. This is an onsite position for a Mechanical Engineer with experience designing building systems within a consulting environment. The successful candidate will work on a variety of commercial, institutional, and infrastructure-related projects while collaborating with engineers, designers, and other technical professionals.The ideal candidate will have strong experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building mechanical systems, along with proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign mechanical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projectsPerform engineering and design for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, ventilation, and temperature control systemsPrepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documentsCoordinate mechanical designs with other engineering and design disciplinesUtilize AutoCAD and Revit for project design and documentationPerform HVAC modeling, system analysis, and equipment selectionAssist with life-cycle cost evaluations and system recommendationsManage assigned projects and design responsibilities from concept through completionAssist with project schedules, budgets, and resource planningReview project documents for technical accuracy and qualityCommunicate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal project teamsParticipate in project meetings and design coordinationProvide technical guidance to junior engineering and design staff as appropriateAssist with client relationship development and business development activitiesWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who combines strong technical design capabilities with the ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.The successful candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of mechanical design responsibilities while balancing multiple projects and deadlines in a consulting environment.Candidates with 8–10+ years of relevant experience and the ability to take on greater project and client responsibilities are especially encouraged to apply.Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution5–10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experiencePrevious experience designing mechanical building systems within a consulting environmentProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferredCandidates working toward PE licensure may also be consideredAdvanced knowledge of:HVAC systemsPlumbing systemsFire protectionHeating and ventilationAir conditioningTemperature and building controlsProficiency with AutoCADProficiency with RevitKnowledge of HVAC modeling and simulation softwareUnderstanding of life-cycle costing and mechanical system evaluationPrevious project management and client-facing experience preferredAbility to plan project resources, maintain schedules, and work within established budgetsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative project teamCompetitive salary based on experienceCompensation flexibility for highly experienced candidatesSign-on bonus availableMedical insuranceDental insuranceLife insuranceDisability insurance401(k)Paid Time OffProfessional development and career advancement opportunities
