Job Description

Mechanical Design EngineerThe very technologies that are creating a more sustainable future for us — electric vehicles, semiconductors, and solar panels — are built on a foundation of metals extracted from the earth at great financial and environmental cost. At ElectraMet™, our mission is to build a circular economy that reduces our dependence on extracting these metals from the ground. We do this by delivering a novel electrochemical technology that separates and recovers dissolved metals from process and wastewater streams.We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will support the design, development, and continuous improvement of our wastewater treatment systems and components. This entry-level role will focus on creating detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, supporting production, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and quality. This position will be located at our Headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky.Core Responsibilities:Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorksAssist in the design of tooling, fixtures, and custom mechanical components for manufacturing processesWork closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability and performance requirementsSupport prototype and production builds, testing, and validation activitiesRevise and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and drawing revisionsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reduce costsTroubleshoot design-related issues on the shop floor and implement design improvementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field0–2 years of experience (internship or co-op acceptable)Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD softwareUnderstanding of manufacturing processes (machining, plumbing, fabrication, assembly)Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T basicsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsEffective communication and teamwork skillsExperience in the water industry is a plusExperience in process controls a plusExperience in fluid dynamics a plusHands-on experience in a manufacturing or shop environment is a plusIf interested, please send your resume to [email protected]
