Data Governance Lead

When you join Design Group as a Data Governance Lead, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
Define, implement, and manage Design Group’s data management and data governance strategy and processes
Ensure that data management practices are defined and consistent across the practice and that our organization and teams understand those practices and compliance requirements
Collaborate closely with the legal department, IT, and project delivery teams to establish data governance frameworks, drive data quality initiatives, and promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability across the organization
Design and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks and procedures that are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Define and enforce data storage and management policies to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across the organization
Collaborate with internal teams to define data lifecycle management policies and procedures, including data retention, archival, and disposal practices, to optimize data utilization while minimizing risks
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data governance principles are integrated into systems, tools, and technologies
Develop and maintain an inventory and classification framework to ensure that data and physical assets are appropriately classified and catalogued based on sensitivity level
Collaborate with the legal team to ensure compliance with customer data requirements and to enforce data privacy and security policies and procedures
Collaborate with practices and regions to identify data stewards and establish clear roles and responsibilities for managing and maintaining data assets
Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to foster a data-driven culture and ensure widespread adoption of data governance policies and procedures across the organization
Collaborate with third-party data providers to evaluate data security risks and integrate appropriate measures into our business continuity plan, based on comprehensive risk analysis
Conduct periodic reviews of data ecosystem to ensure data policy is being appropriately applied
Oversee programs and projects to update data governance throughout the organization
Keep abreast of current data governance best practices and emerging trends and technologies in data management
Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
A minimum of seven years of experience in data governance or a related field
Experience implementing enterprise-wide data governance programs for an engineering or manufacturing environment
Strong analytical skills including the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with diligence and accuracy
Solid written and oral communication skills and presentation skills
Strong influence and persuasion skills at all levels
The ability to lead teams and manage projects
The ability to effectively prioritize, organize work, and execute work in matrixed, complex environments
The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, both internally and externally
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, such as data management, information science, or computer science
A solid understanding of data governance principles and best practices
Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and SOC-2 HIPAA preferred)
