Job Title : Non Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT), Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)
Job Summary:
In addition to functioning as a medical assistant, the NCT, LMRT, or RT is responsible for producing x-rays for diagnostic purposes following prescribed techniques.
General Accountabilities
NCT’s, LMRT’s and RTs are responsible for efficiently assisting the Medical Providers by performing a range of x-ray related tasks, including:
Prepare patient, machine, room, and equipment for x-ray
Practice proper positioning techniques
Properly use shielding and collimation to limit radiation exposure to patient and medical staff
Properly adjust radiographic technique factors to limit radiation exposure to patient and medical staff
Always adhere to the standards of ALARA
In addition, this position is responsible for efficiently assisting the Medical Providers by performing a range of other administrative and clinical tasks, including:
Complete check-in processes, including collecting patient balances
Prepare patient care rooms for examination
Measure and record vital signs
Collect and document clinical history in EMR
Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic tests including eye exams, ear lavage, ECG, peak flow/spirometry, nebulizers, splinting, casting and blood draws.
Perform, collect and label CLIA-waived lab tests for send out
Perform both DOT and Non-DOT urine drug and alcohol tests
Remove sutures/staples and change sterile and non-sterile dressings.
Responsible for patient centered communication including:
Discussing patient balances
Explaining the procedure and treatments that will be performed
Immediate service recovery for patients that are not satisfied
Other responsibilities of the position include:
Clean and sterilize both instruments and equipment after use.
Maintain adequate level of supplies and instruments for use by the facility.
Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
Demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of responsibilities and growth in profession.
Participate in Quality Improvement and Mandatory education/training programs.
Job Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent
Must have and maintain x-ray licensure that can be verified on the Texas Medical Board verification website
RTs must be licensed in the state of Texas and be ARRT certified/registered
LMRTs must have a permanent license in the state of Texas, temporary licenses are not accepted
Knowledge of TMB and OSHA requirements regarding radiologic procedures.
BCLS certification.
Ability to work all shifts including day, night, and weekend hours as needed.
Basic computer skills; including familiarity with electronic medical records.
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Environmental and physical requirements Candidate must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading, filing and sterile technique skills.
Communication skills to deal well with employees, patients, families and Physician/Medical Providers.
Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation. Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch.
Job requires physical ability for long-term standing, occasional sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and below waist.
Job risks include exposure to blood and body fluids (high), contact with chemicals, lifting of 30 - 40 pounds, and exposure to infectious disease.
