Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Network Engineer to join our technical team. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's and customers' network infrastructure. You should have a strong grasp of networking protocols and security measures and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, plan, integrate, support, manage, troubleshoot, and upgrade network devices.
Configure and install network devices and services such as firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, load balancers, and WAN.
Proactively monitor network performance and integrity, troubleshoot network-related issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance.
Develop and maintain network documentation, including network topology, data flow diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
Continuously recommend improvements to enhance network performance, capacity, reliability, and scalability while looking for ways to lower costs.
Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT support teams.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend network upgrades and improvements.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of network operations, including LAN, WAN, SAN, and network-attached devices.
Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
Familiarity with routing and switching protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.
Working knowledge and proficiency with network diagnostic, monitoring, and protocol analysis tools.
Experience with virtual server environments.
Nice to have familiarity with Gitlab, GitHub, Ansible, and Python.
Requirements
Qualifications:
To be considered for a Network Engineer or similar role, you must have proven experience in this field. You should possess in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs. Additionally, you should have hands-on experience with network hardware and software, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. A strong understanding of network security principles and best practices is also essential. Background Check and ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Finally, you should have excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Expected travel: 75% day trips and up to 25% overnight.
Remote or On-site: Hybrid based on the project and needs of the customer. DC-Metro Area Current office location: Sterling, VA.
