Robotics Sr DirectorVice President of Mechanical Engineering Endoscope and Catheter

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director/Vice President of Mechanical Engineering, Endoscope and Catheter is a key member of the leadership team at Triton. He/she is expected to lead a team focusing on a critical next-generation robotic endoscope. This a highly strategic role at Triton Robotics.

The ideal candidate would act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. For the right person, this position will be a tremendously exciting and career-defining opportunity, making core contributions to a genuinely new type of medical robotic platform.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work as part of the core leadership team to develop product and execution strategy.

Working cross-functionally, deliver a safe, effective and reliable endoscope from early stage to market.

Meet aggressive cost, performance and manufacturing goals.

Generate and achieve realistic but aggressive schedules.

Mentor and teach more junior team members.

Light technical contribution with typical and new catheter/endoscope technologies: Coiling, braiding and laser cut hypotubes

Extrusions and films

Steering/bending sections

Thermal and adhesive bonds

Coatings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related.

15+ years of hands-on experience in robotics and/or medical device development. At least 8 years in a managerial role

Proven track record of building and leading technical, cross-functional teams, particularly within a regulated environment.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills including presentation of technical content.

Willingness to work in a startup environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities.

A driven outlook with a strong desire to succeed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

M.S. or PHD in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Experience with development of articulating endoscopes and catheters.

Experience with composite structures, both experimentally and analytically.

A track record of taking a product from conception to launch.

Experience in a start-up environment.

Management of a team that contributed to the successful launch of a medical robot.

Experience working with healthcare providers in a hospital environment.

Located on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $220,000 and $280,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
