The Successful Candidate:

If you are looking for an exciting new place to grow, HBG Design is seeking an experienced Specifier with the ability to work independently and coach teams about materials, product selections, applications, and integration to create a successful project. This position requires an expert understanding of construction documentation, the architectural design process, and quality assurance processes. The successful candidate will also possess high level collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Position Responsibilities:

\tCollaborate with project teams to draft project manuals within the preferred timeframe to meet project deadlines.

\tCoordinate with Project Architects and Designers to ensure consistency between drawings and specifications.

\tManage the firms master specifications library. Update masters as needed.

\tMaintain sufficient knowledge of architectural materials and construction methods.

\tServe as a resource to project teams for materials and product systems selection providing guidance, research, and recommendations regarding suitability and sustainability as necessary throughout all phases of each project.

\tEducate and mentor staff on internal and industry standards related to specifications for materials, products, and assemblies commonly used on HBG Design project types.

\tKeep abreast of alternative specification writing software programs and recommend technology upgrades when necessary for process improvement.

Qualifications:

\tAt least 15 years of experience working in the A/E/C industry.

\tAt least five (5) years of professional experience writing architectural specifications.

\tDemonstrated success working on large-scale architectural projects using AIA MasterSpec and/or other similar formats and databases.

\tCurrent Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) certification required, and Construction Document Technician (CDT) certification preferred.

\tCSI members and LEED accredited professionals preferred.

\tThorough understanding of construction documentation, building codes, materials, and the architectural design process.

\tExcellent interpersonal skills and dependable advisory capabilities necessary to collaborate effectively with project teams.

\tStrong time management and communication abilities with proven track record of working successfully on multiple large projects at a time.

The Compensation:

$85,000-$103,000

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, regional cost of living, experience, and qualifications.
