****About the Role****
Manage a fleet of manual and autonomous vehicles and our robots located at our Mountain View Depot. You will oversee installation/validation of our autonomous HW and SW systems, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and on-going IT system troubleshooting.
****About the Work****
* Manage a fleet of manual and autonomous vehicles. You will oversee installation/validation of our autonomous Hardware and Software systems, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and on-going system troubleshooting while onsite for your city location above.
* Hire, train, manage, scale, and motivate a fleet technician team to support the location.
* Take the lead in understanding, communicating, and resolving any vehicle issues related to safety, hardware & software failure, or preventative maintenance.
* Drive tracking of fleet uptime, as well as improvement initiatives that impact fleet uptime.
* Actively collaborate with engineers, technicians, program managers, fleet managers, and operators to ensure that our fleet is well-maintained.
* Direct accountability of an operational budget and financial tracking of all expenditures for your location.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives at the city operational level; share or implement those solutions in a timely fashion.
* Strive to meet and exceed operational metrics.
* Create and implement daily vehicle inspections and sustaining tasks to maintain efficient fulfillment of deliveries and high vehicle uptimes.
* Ensure procedures are followed and checklists completed on a daily basis by your staff utilizing proper escalation procedures as necessary.
* Ensure quality and proactive responses to the needs of vehicles and staff.
* Manage local automotive maintenance partnerships and depot management tasks.
* Respond to and handle emergency situations with composure.
* Oversee safety within Nuro depots and managing all vehicles.
* Execute preventative maintenance and on-going system troubleshooting.
* Work directly with Fleet Support personnel to ensure local compliance of all upgrades, retrofits, and plan-of-record implementations.
* Lifting of various objects and tools up to 40 lbs.
* May require bending, stooping, crouching, or other physical activity to verify vehicle issues with technicians.
****About You****
* BA/BS degree or 5+ years of equivalent practical experience in Information Technology, Automotive, Aviation, or Fleet sustaining background.
* 5+ years of management/leadership experience (hiring, resource planning, allocation, optimization, reporting, budgeting, performance management, etc.) with at least 10+ direct/indirect reports.
* Diagnostic troubleshooting experience with vehicle or technology systems including electrical and mechanical sensors, cameras, compute, and/or other associated equipment.
* Ability to adhere to a schedule of operating times including some weekends and evenings as needed. Daily onsite/on-person management required.
* Ability to remain highly flexible with the changing needs of the business. Able to maintain a high tolerance for ambiguity.
* Ability for limited travel.
* High attention to detail and very process driven.
* Demonstrated project management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple team in different locations (within same city)
* Experience working with EVs, autonomous vehicles, or sensors is a plus.
* Fleet team management experience is a plus.
