Sr. Research Data Analyst

The Center for Child & Community Health Research (CCHR) in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is a leader in addressing social determinants of health, sexually transmitted infections and other health disparities through research, programmatic and clinical endeavors.

CCHR seeks a Sr. Research Data Analyst to provide technical support primarily for research projects conducted in collaboration with the local health department, BCHD.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Performs data and database management duties, performs statistical analyses, including but not limited to risk factor analyses.

Produces data reports, fulfils data requests, and provides technical assistance for data management to ensure grant deliverables are met.

Contributes to generation of dissemination products such as manuscripts, papers, reports, and presentations.

Assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative strategies to control the STD/HIV epidemic in Baltimore.

Assist with program evaluation activities for grants as needed.

Identify problems with clinic-based data collection and collaborate with project PIs and other staff to reach solutions

Communicating with project PIs, other Epidemiologists, program managers and directors and coordinating on meeting program requirements.

Remaining up to date on best practices related to STD/HIV prevention efforts. This may include travel to conferences and/or discussions with other health departments, reporting from the literature, or attending webinars.

Other duties as determined by project PIs or the Director of CCHR.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of epidemiologic research methodology, epidemiologic data collection procedures, epidemiologic study design, descriptive and inferential statistics.

Knowledge and experience analyzing electronic medical record data related to STI/HIV care.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of the biomedical sciences and public health.

Knowledge of the objectives, scope, and functions of Federal, State and local health laws and regulations that apply to public health.

Knowledge of interviewing and investigating techniques used in the epidemiology of human disease, of the methods and practices for the control of human disease and of the causes and sources of contagion of communicable human disease.

Ability to apply advanced epidemiologic principles and methods in analysis of health data.

Ability to direct epidemiologic investigations or studies.

Ability to understand technical and administrative problems and constraints involved in formulating disease control or prevention recommendations.

Ability to evaluate and interpret epidemiological and statistical data.

Ability to prepare and present reports and recommendations clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis without direction.

Ability to prioritize own work as needed. Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related field and one year of related experience with each of the following: design, analysis and interpretation of epidemiological based scientific studies using R, STATA or SAS.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Arc GIS.

Five plus years related experience.

Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $26.53 - $46.44 HRLY ($37.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)
