Youth Mental Health Clinician

Working at WestCoast Children's Clinic means being part of an organization that is client-centered, trauma-informed, collaborative, and committed to justice and equity.

WestCoast Children's Clinic is actively looking for clinicians dedicated to enhancing the social and emotional welfare of children, youth, and families. WCC Clinicians work with children and youth to help them discover who they are and what they can become.

Our clinicians offer intensive, community-based strategies for stabilization, crisis intervention, and trauma-focused treatment while coordinating care. Join our team of clinicians, case managers, and support counselors providing comprehensive mental health services, including assessments, therapy, and case management. We offer new clinicians a six-month training program covering essential skill areas such as complex trauma, childhood development, cultural sensitivity, collaboration, child and adolescent clinical concepts, and community mental health.

Programs Overview:

EMPOWR

The Team-Based model of care program named EMPOWR ( EM bracing, P rogress and O pportunities, W e R ise) aims to support transition aged youth (TAY, 16-24) attain mental health support, housing stability, employment and education gains, and community connections. The program provides community-based therapy, case management and care coordination, and peer and family support through a team-based model. The whole team collaborates on one shared caseload, providing youth with an entire team of support, and allowing staff to share in the successes and challenges of their clients.

STAT (Screening, Stabilization, and Transition)

The STAT program is an innovative, model program that provides mental health Screening, Stabilization, and Transition (STAT) services to children as they enter the foster care system in Alameda County. STAT Clinicians complete a mental health screening and informal assessment of every child who arrives at the Assessment Center (located in Hayward), providing both individual and milieu-based therapeutic interventions. The STAT program serves children of all ages and is committed to helping them cope with the traumas of abuse and neglect, while working to minimize the impact of being separated from their family, home, and community.

Minimum Requirements: Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work with current CA BBS/BOP license or registration (OR: graduation date/registration pending)

Direct clinical experience working with youth who have experienced abuse and neglect, community violence, commercial sexual exploitation, and/or other trauma, foster care, and community mental health.

Demonstrated clinical skill in assessment, evaluation, treatment, and crisis intervention.

Sensitivity and awareness in recognizing and addressing race, gender, power, and privilege, and how these impact community mental health.

Ability to manage time and work efficiently; to be well-organized and complete timely documentation; and to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to assess needs, strengths & provide crisis intervention and de-escalation in small and large group settings.

Clean CA DMV record, travel is required

Bilingual clinicians and clinicians of color are strongly encouraged to apply

Pay:

$72,000-$82,000+ per year (unlicensed starting at $72,000 and licensed starting at $82,000).

For Bilingual Spanish applicants: includes 10% additional differential

*SIGNING BONUS - $4,000 for Bilingual Spanish Clinicians*
