You will provide specialized Information Assurance and Weapons Systems Cybersecurity expertise to support the Satellite Control Network (SCN) within Space Systems Command (SSC) in its mission to sustain and modernize the SCN and provide highly reliable telemetry, tracking, command, communication and control (TT&C3) for more than 170 Department of Defense(DoD), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), civil and allied satellites. As a Cybersecurity Engineer/ISSM professional with MTSI you will review and assess of a wide range of complex systems and subsystems to identify the level of mission and technical risk inherent in the current cyber security posture, as well as appropriate mitigations to manage that risk. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment.
Comms Engineer Principal Duty
Provide systems engineering expertise and cybersecurity support. This will include review and assessment of a wide range of complex SCN systems and subsystems to identify the level of mission and technical risk inherent in the current cyber security posture, as well as appropriate mitigations to manage that risk. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Example technical focus areas include: security engineering, security analysis and assessment, and information system security activities that support complex systems from the perspective of sophisticated threat actors; technical advice on advanced cyber security and computer processing related technologies and programs, including advanced countermeasure design, development, implementation and assessment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff
Implement and oversee SATCOM and ground system activities
Ensure consistent submission of high-quality products to the Government
Collect, normalize, and input data, cost modeling to performing in-depth research
Reconcile complex data and information across multiple systems and reports
Utilize complex software in the development of analytical models
Interpret results to generate multiple recommended courses of action, building staffing packages, comprehending, and applying concepts and guidance
Implement instructions and policies into routine performance and develop tools and applications to foster efficiency in day-to-day activities
Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy—oral and written
Qualifications:
Required skills:
At least three years (3) relevant experience performing engineering activities in the Government (military and/or civil servant), federally funded research and development center, or profit or non-profit Government support, or development Contractor arena
Working knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) for current applicable SCI information assurance requirements.
Motivated self-starter who is able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, often with minimal guidance and within rigid timelines
Apply clear and structured thought processes and coherent decision making skills in a dynamic and adaptive environment
Lead or participate in assessment teams to identify Systems Engineering-related issues and risks; perform root cause analysis; and recommend issue recovery plans or risk mitigation plans.
Outstanding communication skills in conveying complex cybersecurity issues to non-technical personnel in a way that is clear and concise and should be comfortable presenting information to various levels of leadership.
Working knowledge of advanced cybersecurity and computer processing related technologies and programs, including advanced countermeasure design, development, implementation and assessment vulnerability and penetration testing
Knowledgeable and skilled in support of engineering relevant to space programs, with emphasis on communication systems, antennas (phased array / multi-aperture SATCOM), and operational control nodes
Experience supporting an Acquisition Category Level III (or equivalent) software or hardware program with engineering research, analysis, reporting and resolution for system engineering for a relevant SATCOM efforts
Desired skills:
Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in the SCN
Advisory and Assistance Service (A&AS), or System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to a Government program office
Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs
Experience in Space Systems Command (SSC) acquisition
Education/Certifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree limited to the following: Cybersecurity (e.g., cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering, information technology), or Sciences, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) or Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO)
Journeyman level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the use of an electronic government authorized information management system, collaboration portal, or integrated data environment(IDE)
Desired Requirements: INCOSE Associate, Certified, or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP, CSEP, ESEP)
CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CASP+, PenTest+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Clearance:
Candidate must have active TOP SECRET clearance and eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment
Location/Travel Requirements: Work is within 90 minutes of Colorado Springs / some remote work possible. You may be required to travel periodically
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $101,085/year to $132,135/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract rates, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
