About the Position

The Microbiology Sales Specialist will be responsible for driving revenue in the Mid-Atlantic territory and selling a revolutionary product that produces rapid, accurate, and cost-effective microorganism detection and identification. This is a high-ticket sales role that includes capital equipment, software, service contracts, and consumable revenue for their microbiology platform with both IVD and RUO applications. The focus will be calling into microbiology laboratories within clinical, pharma, veterinary, food/beverage, and environmental markets. The Microbiology Sales Specialist will achieve success through a consultative, solution selling process and by working collaboratively in a matrixed sales environment and with distribution partners. The Microbiology Sales Specialist will be a hunter who is success driven and embraces diversified selling into all target markets and leads the pack for new product launches.

About the Candidate Profile

5+ years of capital equipment sales and demonstrated success selling complex diagnostic products and services.

Microbiology or infectious disease sales experience a plus.

Industry relationships and established contacts in clinical, pharma, and/or applied markets are a plus.

Experience working with distribution partners.

Proven track record of high sales performance with documented success.

Ability to identify and qualify needs and to present solutions to different levels within an account (technical, financial, and executive).

Self-motivated and excited about new challenges and the opportunity to effect/drive substantial changes in current testing processes.

Solution seller able to uncover business problems and propose appropriate solutions.

Adaptable and able to work in and with multiple departments.

BA/BS degree in relevant scientific field (microbiology, biology, chemistry).

Home-office based with field travel up to 50% as required.

Must be located near a major airport in the territory (MD, DC, VA, DE, or NJ)
