Head of Pharma Strategy

The Vice President of Pharma Strategy is a strategic leader who will expand the reach and application of single cell and spatial genomics in pharma and clinical application.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Pharma Strategy will be responsible for 10x Genomics' pharma and clinical application strategy to drive the reach of single cell and spatial genomics in therapy development by informing technology development and evaluating novel business models to apply single cell and spatial technologies broadly in translational and clinical settings.

In this role, the individual must be a self-starter, strategic thinker, able to think outside the box, action and output-driven, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel at managing multiple priorities. Given the cross-functional teams at 10x, the Pharma Strategy Leader needs to be able to build strong cross-functional relations and succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization. The ideal candidate needs to be strategic, flexible, collaborative and, most importantly, have a solid understanding of the pharma drug development process and creatively consider the opportunity of 10x technologies and capabilities in drug development and clinical application.

This role will report into the Chief Business Officer.

What you will be doing:

Provide overall thought leadership in identifying market opportunities, developing business cases for recommended pharma strategies and product opportunities.

Lay out and recommend business model options to best serve and partner with pharma; and if appropriate, help build 10x Genomics' team to execute on these novel approaches.

Commit to gaining a thorough understanding of our corporate, technology and commercial strategy and the market and competitive dynamics to chart out 10x Genomics' pharma strategy.

Participate in portfolio decisions to ensure that pharma needs are sufficiently prioritized.

Work closely with Product Management and R&D leaders to ensure that the product strategy and new products meet the needs and practices of pharma/ biotech - including identifying new products, features to integrate in current products/pipeline, or novel business models to serve the pharma translational and clinical markets.

Collaborate with Commercial organization (pharma marketing, regional marketing, and pharma strategic account managers) and Business Development to inform and augment the execution of our pharma commercial and partnership strategy.

Influence internally and externally to navigate and be successful in a matrixed organization.

To be successful, you will need:

Ph.D.in life science field or MD degree, with 7-10 years of experience in drug development, pharma translational research, biomarker and diagnostics experience; or a MS/MBA in relevant life sciences field with 10 years experience in pharma research and development.

3 years in management/team leader role with a track record of coaching and mentoring team members to perform at higher levels through a positive, interactive style

Experience in contributing to product development, by understanding technology and executional needs in the market and pragmatically define technologies, products, and solutions to meet these needs

Strong business acumen, with analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to understand how business model decisions impact operating model design/ execution across operations, technology, risk governance and organizational design

Excellent oral and written communication skills to influence cross-functionally and engage senior leadership

Experience collaborating with internal and external resources, including engaging pharma decision-makers and partners

Strategic thinking and ability to identify growth opportunities and drive to resolution

Track record of prioritizing and executing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

It would be fantastic if you already had:

Experience in healthcare technology, in addition to pharma/biotech experience

A fundamental understanding of pharma drug discovery and development process and biomarker/ diagnostic experience
