Position Summary:
Hire and manage delivery drivers and maintain the delivery fleet to safely deliver a one-of-a-kind, got-to-tell-my-neighbors customer experience. The primary goals of this position are:
Ensure we provide safe, speedy, and efficient deliveries to our customers
Manage and coach our drivers so that they take ownership for representing our beautiful brand, are friendly and courteous to drivers, and feel part of both Heatable and Dead River
Maintain a delivery fleet that is ready to meet customer needs at the coldest times of year
Partner with the manager of Customer and Dispatch to effectively plan our schedule, ensuring speedy deliveries
Take on other responsibilities as needed to ensure the success of the business
Contribute to a high functioning and exciting team
Essential Functions:
Ensure we can delivery seven days a week during the heating season by hiring and scheduling a productive workforce of regular, seasonal, and part time drivers. Makes deliveries as needed to ensure we meet our customer commitments.
Sets the standard for all drivers in delivering a one-of-a-kind customer experience, supporting annual customer growth and retention goals, corporate image, safe work habits, and driving courtesy.
Holds biweekly driver huddles to communicate successes, metrics and delivery standards.
Holds individual performance conversations with drivers each month.
Regularly rides with drivers to review and observe established driving and delivery expectations, provides positive reinforcement, and addresses observed deficiencies.
Evaluates and discusses performance with employees utilizing the Performance Scorecard.
Schedules painting/branding, repairs, maintenance, licensing, and inspections of delivery
Maintains driver files and vehicle maintenance files according to federal and state regulations and company policy.
Works with the General Manager and the Customer and Dispatch Manager to schedule trucks and drivers to meet customer demand
Ensures trucks and drivers needed to meet customer demand based on weekly forecast.
Works with other DDMs and General Managers to assign drivers to other markets.
Is part of a weekend Manager rotation to cover weekend dispatching and customer calls.
Participates in driver training and documents that all drivers have been trained in the safe handling and delivery of petroleum products.
Is accountable for achieving certain aspects of the P&L, including driver labor and vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Emphasizes safety by conducting safety meetings, investigating accidents, spills and injuries, and becoming familiar with all applicable federal and state laws and company safety policies.
Executes Heatable growth plan, by working with the General Manager to complete tasks such as finding suitable trucks and ensuring parking locations are well equipped.
Other Tasks :
Performs other work-related duties as assigned (in the Heatable, the Discount Business, and Dead River).
Experience:
Previous supervisory experience is necessary.

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Certification and Testing:
A Class B Commercial Drivers License with hazardous materials endorsement or the ability and interest in acquiring this licensing is required.
Contacts:
On a daily basis the Delivery Driver Manager is in contact with customers, drivers, and other office staff.This position works closely with the General Manager.
Decisions Made:
The Delivery Manager makes decisions regarding hiring, maintenance issues, and whether to make deliveries based on safety issues and weather concerns.Most other decisions are made in consultation with the General Manager.
Safety Considerations:
Safety considerations relate to the safe delivery of petroleum products for the fleet.Any accidents, spills, overfills, or wrong deliveries are promptly reported and an investigation completed.
Equipment Used:
Computer and other basic office equipment is utilized.When making a product delivery, a delivery truck and associated equipment is used.
Work Environment:
The majority of time is spent in a fast-paced office environment.During emergency or unusual situations, this position makes petroleum deliveries.(see physical requirements of Delivery Driver position for more details on this aspect of the job).
