Job Summary:
Client company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Transportation to oversee all aspects of their Atlanta based transportation operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing transportation logistics efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries, and optimizing routes to maximize cost-effectiveness. The Director of Transportation will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of their supply chain while delivering exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize transportation operations, including fleet management, route planning, and driver scheduling.
· Oversee the day-to-day activities of the transportation department, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, warehousing, and distribution, to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
· Analyze transportation data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
· Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor service levels to ensure the highest standards of service and reliability.
· Lead and mentor a team of transportation professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to drive continuous improvement.
· Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes affecting transportation logistics.
· Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of transportation operations and track progress towards goals.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
· Proven experience in transportation management, preferrably within the foodservice or related industry.
· Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and implement solutions.
· Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
· Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), route optimization software, and other relevant technology tools.
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
