Senior Network Engineer

Have you ever wanted to work on a cutting-edge space-based mission in Paradise? We are currently seeking highly qualified candidates to support the development of a hybrid (AWS Cloud/On-Prem) information system in beautiful Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. This is a high demand position because of the nature of the mission, and will require a dedicated professional to be self-motivated and proactive when it comes to solving problems. As the primary network engineer for this effort, you will be heavily leaned on to implement complex hybrid capable solutions, troubleshoot networking issues, and contribute to design during planning and development stages. This position will call for the ability to wear multiple hats, and learn/adapt new skills. Though this is not a management position, it will be expected for you to act as an advisor to the prime contractor managers/gov when called upon.

The primary residence of the ideal candidate is local to Maui, however, highly qualified candidates that are willing to travel from other Hawaiian Islands as needed to meet program demands, will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities Analyzing and recommending network requirements

Recommending and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure

Monitoring network capacity and performance

Diagnosing and resolving network problems, to include verifying hardware configurations

Recommending network backup and recovery procedures

Installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services

Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight

Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, im-prove systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical base-line, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance are achieved in accordance with approved specifications

Perform validation of systems, including the development of criteria and procedures

Analyze and evaluate results of major engineering systems with a concentration on end-to-end communications

Prepare technical documents that define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics

Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using the application of engineering economy principles

Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with AF SEAM processes

Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule

Provide technical recommendation support services, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineering IPTs

Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing DoD requirements, assessments, concept, strategy, and audit documentation

Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)

Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing: Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Military Utility Assessments (MUAs), and Technology Development Strategies

Possess the ability to oversee and guide the efforts of junior and mid-level engineers

Be able to represent the Government’s interests by performing Agile Product Owner roles and responsibilities

Security Clearance Active DoD Secret security clearance required

Required Qualifications Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance

B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related discipline (+5 Years Experience); or

7+ Years of directly relevant experience (ISSO, ISSM, ISSE, etc) in lieu of a degree; and

Advanced knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline as a Sr Network Engineer

Relevant industry certifications from Cisco (CCNP), CompTIA (Sec+)

Advanced understanding of networking protocols - switching technologies, routing fundamentals, firewalls, IP subnets, firewalling, load balancing, zones, and Management Networks

Working knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, xDSL, TCP/IP, fiber, T1, 802.11x, etc

Experience with DoD STIGs (as related to networking devices)

Experience with CISCO and Palo Alto Firewall configurations

Experience with ITIL framework and ITIL-based processes, to include continual service improvement, change management, and problem investigation

Preferred Qualifications M.S. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (+10 Years Experience)

Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness or Command and Control Systems

The Goods The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.

Additional Compensation Annual performance-based bonuses are also possible for this position.

Premium Insurance: We cover up to 100% of the employee premium and up to 80% of the combined dependent premium, depending on pay band. We also cover 100% of the premium for employee and dependent Dental and Vision as well as employee premiums for Life and Disability coverage.

Opt-out salary incentive for those who don’t need health coverage.

Retirement: 8% retirement contributions with free retirement and investment consulting to help you plan for the future

Paid time off (PTO): 30 days off per year (11 federal holidays, 15 vacation days, 4 sick days).

Military and Maternity/Paternity leave are also offered.

Education & Training: Accrued budget of up to $5,250 per year for classes, travel, events, and materials.
