The Role
The Head of Government Affairs is responsible for building out the government affairs function at Metropolis and shaping the company's strategy for engaging governments and community leaders. Metropolis' vision of the future is bold, and we are seeking a dynamic professional with extensive experience in government affairs, public policy, compliance, and lobbying. This role will work cross-functionally with internal teams, including Legal, Operations, and Communications, and external advisors to identify key audiences across Metropolis' markets and build a scalable program for proactively and reactively engaging with them.
Responsibilities
Establish the strategic direction for the government affairs function to advance the company's business goals and objectives
Collaborate closely with Communications, Marketing, and CEO's Office to execute a brand policy campaign to establish Metropolis as the trusted thought leader on shaping the future of mobility / checkout-free payments and to drive awareness, understanding and affinity among key local, state, federal, and media stakeholders.
Serve as primary point of contact for all matters related to governmental relations and public policy
Cultivate relationships and lead engagement with regulatory bodies, legislative offices, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure a favorable operating environment for Metropolis
Identify and assess regulatory and political risks, providing timely insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Operations, and Communications teams, to integrate government affairs strategies with broader business priorities
Manage relationships with external consultants, lobbyists, and other relevant partners to enhance our government affairs capabilities
Stay current on regulatory trends and developments, providing guidance on their impact on the company's operations
Represent Metropolis in industry associations, forums, and public events, advocating for the company's business interests
Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required, 10+ years of relevant experience at a fast-paced company
Proven leadership in integrating government relations and public policy with business strategy, operations, communications, and marketing
Experience identifying, researching, and distilling complex national, state, and/or local regulatory issues and opportunities
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with government officials and community leaders
Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner
Experience in AI technology, mobility, real estate, or related fields is a plus
When you join Metropolis, you'll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. The anticipated base salary for this position is $185,000.00 to 250,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis's total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
