Position Summary
This position is responsible for the program and management all hazardous and non-hazardous waste for the assigned facility as well as all documentation and regulatory standards associated with waste management.
Essential Job Functions
Provides technical support for waste-related field and facility operations including processing and/or loading activities
Ensures proper documentation and handling of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and mixed wastes
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements associated with best safety, environmental, inspection, packaging, and transportation activities related to waste management
Prepares required waste-related reports for local, state and federal regulatory agencies and facility management
Participates and leads audits and assessments; includes self-assessments as required
Coordinates and maintains records of storage area inspections, waste profile forms, disposal requests, shipping paperwork, and waste characterization information
Coordinates and assists with technical testing and documenting of waste containers including sampling, assay and leak testing
Coordinates and implements waste minimization and pollution prevention initiatives and techniques
Coordinates activities of other personnel related to waste-related activities
Participates in the development of programs and work packages; implements training
Inspects facility to ensure compliance with environmental procedures and federal, state, and local permits and regulations
Works with contractors to maintain monitoring programs and environmental management
Assists in determining areas of improvement to lessen environmental waste and damage
Assists in developing hazard control programs to reduce contaminations and accidents
Develops, implements, updates, and maintains waste-related environmental plans and procedures for assigned facility
Assists in coordinating environmental operations; assists with permit renewals and regulatory compliance as requested
Monitors state and federal regulatory developments and trends; assesses impact; makes recommendations for adjustments
Applies environmental regulatory knowledge and experience; recommends strategies and solutions to issues facing Company, specific to waste management
Ensures following of proper waste disposal procedures throughout facility
Identifies waste materials; conducts risk assessment on hazardous materials
Trains others on proper safety guidelines when handling wastes
Evaluates and coordinates storage and handling of hazardous waste
Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety
Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position

Experience Requirement
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with handling, characterizing, packaging, and/or transporting solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes.
Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to the handling and management of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting waste management.
Experience implementing environmental programs
Experience preparing and executing technical reports
Experience with waste management‐application risk assessments, corrective actions, regulatory compliance, and conducting operations
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
Fluent in English language including reading; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree or higher required in environmental science, chemistry, or related field of study.
RCRA training and corresponding certifications
Various environmental training

This employee generally works in an office environment, away from extremes of cold or heat. Limited to no exposure to noise and vibrations other than normal daily office sounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee should not have regular exposure to fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust or poor ventilation. If sited at a plant during a construction period, the employee is exposed to loose dirt, construction zone areas, additional safety zones, and other construction related environmental characteristics.
