We are looking for a Claims and Accounting Specialist to join our team! The Claims and Accounting Specialist will support the branch offices and National Accounts Team (NAM) to assist in the evaluation, investigation, documentation filing, and collecting of cargo claims made necessary by the company’s exposure to carrier cargo claims. They will also support the branch offices and NAM accounts with invoicing, payment resolution, rate adjustments, and maintaining the customer rate matrix. This position requires a great deal of detail, independent thought, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. If this is you, or you like a challenge– let’s talk.
You will
Monitor and resolve claims in customer’s systems
Distribute claim information to offices and support their needs
Investigate the circumstances surrounding each claim, including reviewing documentation and assessing damages
Document findings and maintain accurate records of claims status and resolution progress
Prepare balance statements for clients as needed
Work with Centralized Billing to collect past dues and prepare necessary documentation for customer
Maintain internal rate matrix for each client, updating weekly with new/adjusted lanes and volumes
Support offices with rate discrepancies
Serve as the primary point of contact for NAM customers and offices regarding cargo claims Communicate claim status updates and resolutions to office managers promptly and professionally
Support the Claims Resolution Specialist to negotiate claim settlements with carriers and insurers, striving to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers and branch offices
Skills and Experience
Experience in claims adjusting preferred (experience in cargo is a plus)
1-3 years of first party physical damage claims in commercial trucking a plus but not required
Strong knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and regulations
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written and verbal
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who excels in a fast-paced environment
Requires excellent analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Good Accounting and Excel skills required
Effective communication skills
Excellent work ethic
Strong time-management skills with the ability to multitask
Highly organized and detail-oriented
