Description

STRUCTURAL integrates technology-driven solutions with specialty contracting services to improve, protect, and enhance the existing infrastructure of owners directly, and in partnership with designers and contractors. STRUCTURAL offers a wide range of specialty repair and maintenance services and is the largest concrete repair contractor in the United States, with roughly 2,500 employees working from locations nationwide and in select international markets. STRUCTURAL is the open-shop contracting business line of Structural Group.

Our Baltimore-Washington and Denver base offices are looking for a highly energetic, enthusiastic, experienced, hands-on, Safety Manager. Our ideal candidate, will interact with Business Line and Branch leadership, employees, and subcontractors. They will also lead and support a safety team of (2-3) as well as project-specific safety personnel, and direct efforts to continuously improve our overall safety culture.

Some highlights and responsibilties of this position would include:

Assisting in the development of procedures for safety standards and best practices in a team environment through frequent interaction and open communication with managers, employees, subcontractors, and clients.

Conducting and coordinating new hire safety orientation worker safety training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment for new and current employees.

Working under the supervision of the Safety Director to ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, NIOSH, customer, state, and local regulations; and supports safety efforts to continuously improve overall site safety culture.

Assist in development of internal field employees who show a passion towards a vertical safety career and support them in acquiring necessary skills/knowledge/certifications

Conduct interactive training as well as investigate and document near hit and/or claims and incidents.

Working with jobsite personnel and project teams to perform root-cause analysis, evaluate information, and implement corrective solutions.

Managing new hire safety orientation and driving all company safety initiatives.

Focusing on and initiating pro-active safety directives

Upholding company Safety 24/7 Culture and Operating Principles

Presenting company safety performance information at each Branch and Corporate meetings

Managing new hire orientation and safety compliance for all Branch employees.

Conducting tracking/trending of safety observation reports (SOR)/Near hit reports to focus project efforts in reducing frequency of events leading to incidents.

Leading and supporting safety efforts to continuously improve overall site safety culture including conducting Branch safety stand downs.

Participating in project and pre-task planning to identify site-specific training, and safety needs.

Performing as well as training employees on conducting Site Audits and Job Safety Analysis Audits on jobsites within the division.

Reviewing findings with jobsite management/supervision and utilize as a training tool for all branch employees as applicable.

Recommending measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

Developing and/or reviewing site specific safety plans and silica exposure control plans with project teams.

What candidates will need to be successful:

5+ years of experience as a safety manager/ coordinator or trainer in a well-structured construction safety culture

Possesses leadership skills to effectively train and mentor others Field construction supervision is a plus

Experience with a self-performing contractor

OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500 and CSST preferred

Experience in Commercial / Nuclear environments a plus

Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations as they apply to construction

Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective measures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work in a quickly changing open team environment

Candidates who are English/Spanish bi-lingual is a plus

Ability to travel up to 40% to support the Colorado and Baltimore-Washington offices

Ability to work at heights required
