Endoscopy Technician

The Endoscopy Technician / Gastrointestinal Technicianassists endoscopy nurses and physicians in the gastroenterology (GI) specialty. The Endoscopy Technician / GastrointestinalTechnician assists patients who have stomach or intestine problems, or thosewho are undergoing diagnostic procedures and/or treatment for various GIrelated illnesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains inventories of endoscopic equipment and suppliesPerforms safety checks to verify proper equipmentfunctioningCollects and delivers specimens collected during procedures,ensuring the field remains sterilePrepares suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedurerequirementsCleans, disinfects, or calibrates scopes or other endoscopicinstruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standardsMaintains or repairs endoscopic equipmentPositions or transports patients in accordance withinstructions from medical personnelAssists physicians or registered nurses in the conduct ofendoscopic proceduresCollects specimens from patients using standard medicalproceduresPerforms other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalentEndoscopy Technician Certification may be required perstate/client contractOne year of experience preferred within medical assisting,surgical technology and/or GIComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age
Shift:
- Monday-Friday mid-shift 11a-7:30p
Requirements:
- 2+ years' experience in a hospital preferred
- Assisting with cases in the OR room, scope reprocessing, and room turnover
- COVID Vaccine(s) and Seasonal Flu Vaccine required
