Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Description Job Description The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for providing a great patient experience by checking patient eligibility and insurance plan benefits. Includes utilizing online resources, calling insurance companies, and completion of benefit investigation form in EMR system.
Essential Responsibilities:
Check patient eligibility and insurance plan benefits via online payer portals and outgoing calls to the insurance plan
Completion of benefit verification form in EMR system
Following the department procedures to ensure timely completion of benefit investigations
Communication with internal Patient Financial Services Staff and external practice managers when inaccurate demographic information is supplied
Review and update demographic and insurance information in the EMR system
Supports and actively participates in initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance.
Experience:
1 year of work experience in Medical Insurance Verification is required
High School Diploma or equivalent required - some college preferred
