Government Logistics Operations Specialist
Our client is looking to add a Government Logistics Operations Specialist with a focus on government contracts to their team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of transportation logistics, government procurement processes, and regulatory compliance. This role involves managing and coordinating freight services for government clients, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with both clients and carriers.

Responsibilities:
Government Contract Management: Identify and pursue government contract opportunities in the trucking and logistics sector.
Prepare and submit bids and proposals in response to government RFPs (Requests for Proposals).
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulations and requirements.
Brokerage Operations: Coordinate and manage all aspects of truck brokerage operations, including load planning, carrier selection, and dispatch.
Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service.
Monitor and track shipments, ensuring on-time delivery and resolving any issues that arise during transit.
Client Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with government clients and agencies.
Serve as the primary point of contact for government contracts, providing exceptional customer service and support.
Conduct regular meetings and communications with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with changes in government regulations affecting transportation and logistics.
Ensure all brokerage activities comply with relevant laws, including safety, environmental, and security standards.
Prepare and maintain documentation required for government audits and inspections.
Monitor and manage the financial aspects of government contracts, including budgeting, invoicing, and cost control.
Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve profitability.
Prepare regular financial reports for senior management.
Work closely with internal teams, including sales, operations, and compliance, to ensure seamless execution of government contracts.
Provide training and guidance to team members on government contract requirements and best practices.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in truck brokerage, with at least 3 years specializing in government contracts.
Strong knowledge of transportation logistics and freight management.
Familiarity with government procurement processes and regulations (e.g., SAM FAR, DFARS).
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances if required by the government contracts.
Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
