Founded in 1834, Tulane University School of Medicine (Tulane SOM) is recruiting for an exceptional individual to fill the newly established position of the Endowed Chair, Geriatric Medicine and Medical Director, Center for Aging. This prestigious role offers the opportunity to spearhead a transformative program in integrative geriatric medicine and palliative care. The successful candidate will work closely with the Division Director of General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Palliative Care, collaborating across departmental boundaries to drive excellence in clinical care, education and research.
This individual will lead efforts to enhance healthcare, develop innovative therapies, and reshape care delivery for the elderly. Moreover, they will play a pivotal role in advancing medical education efforts for students, residents, fellows, faculty, staff, and community physicians in Southeast Louisiana.

The search for a nationally renowned expert in geriatric medicine coincides with a period of extraordinary change for Tulane SOM. The Endowed Chair will have the opportunity to shape the future of geriatric medicine and palliative care. This visionary leader will inspire, manage, mentor, and develop a culturally diverse faculty and staff to address the evolving needs of elder care in New Orleans and beyond.
The Endowed Chair, Geriatric Medicine and Medical Director, Center for Aging will oversee the program's clinical, academic, and administrative functions, ensuring excellence in patient care, education, and fiscal management. From creating and executing a strategic vision to promoting diversity and cultural sensitivity, this role is multifaceted and impactful. Responsibilities include leading clinical programs, advancing research and scholarship, fostering educational initiatives, and developing strategies for program growth and financial management.
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished leader with expertise in geriatric medicine or related areas. They should possess exceptional judgment, commitment to academic excellence, and a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration.
