We have been retained by a Columbus Client to identify a Director of Application Development . The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the application development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of software applications that meet business requirements and align with company objectives.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including business leaders, product managers, and IT teams, to define application development strategies, roadmaps, and priorities.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions by establishing and enforcing best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
Manage the application development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Monitor and report on project progress, performance metrics, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Identify and mitigate risks and issues related to application development projects, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the application development team.
Develop and manage budgets, resource plans, and timelines for application development initiatives.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
Extensive experience with application development frameworks, programming languages, and technologies (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, SQL, cloud platforms).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering business value and achieving project objectives.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
