Associate - Community Development Impact Location: Chicago, IL
Type: Full-Time Position
We are seeking an Associate to work with our growing practice to support equitable, innovative and impact-driven development projects nationwide. This position will engage with all aspects of SB Friedman's community development finance practice, gaining exposure to high-impact projects, deal structuring and public-private financing. Located in Chicago's Loop, SB Friedman is a mission-driven advisor specializing in public-private partnerships and development projects that support community revitalization, placemaking and social equity.
The ideal candidate for this position is a curious, critical thinker who enjoys analyzing and synthesizing both quantitative and qualitative data. The successful applicant will be resourceful, comfortable working in unstructured environments, detail oriented, and a strong communicator. Our team works exclusively on projects in economically distressed areas and strives to hire individuals who are committed to understanding the complex challenges facing these communities. Key Responsibilities
Measuring and synthesizing community and economic impacts from disparate sources
Using Excel and other analytical software to assess project impacts and create a range of internal and external work products
Research and writing support on competitive New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) applications for submittal to US Treasury
Supporting efficient NMTC closings through coordination with internal and external parties
Developing and improving systems and processes to increase efficiency and quality
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Finance, Business Administration, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field
Demonstrated interest in equitable and economic development or related topics
1-3 years relevant experience (including internships and analogous work experiences)
Strong quantitative analysis skills, particularly using Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated attention to detail, organization skills and ability to meet deadlines
Strong written and oral communication
