Beam is looking for an experienced Control Engineer to enhance and develop system level controls of the EV ARC and other product lines. Our products must operate autonomously in extreme environments while meeting practical charging use cases. System level control is responsible for meeting this goal by integrating subsystem operations to actively manage energy resources and apply intelligent predictive analytics. As part of a small team, a successful candidate must be comfortable with independent and dynamic work and be motivated to drive solutions that meet product goals.
Responsibilities
Own and develop system level software to integrate operations and control of power electronics, energy storage, EV chargers, and auxiliary components.
Define system architecture, communications protocols, and behavior.
Consider machine learning applications based on usage and environments.
Create and present proposals for control solutions to engineering leadership.
Collaborate on subsystem requirements.
Validate system software and operational requirements against product goals.
Define and perform system and subsystem tests to verify requirements are met.
Troubleshoot and debug system level code and advise on subsystem development.
Interface with off-the-shelf components through APIs or other means when possible.
Requirements
BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and five (5+) years of experience developing system controls.
Expertise with Linux systems, Python, SQL, C#, and C++.
Extensive experience designing and programming CAN, 485, 232, Modbus networks.
Demonstrated understanding and use of network communication protocols including UPD, TCP, Telnet, SSH.
Experience using APIs to integrate third party products.
Experience in designing and writing test specifications and DVP&Rs.
Comfortable operating assembly tools, lab equipment, and creating test setups.
Ability to analyze system data and create reports for a variety of stakeholders.
Deep experience in troubleshooting complex systems.
Able to work independently and actively collaborate when needed.
Creative and analytical thinker with excellent communication and writing skills.
