Summary This position is located in the Housekeeping Department at the Claremore Indian Hospital within the Oklahoma City Area Indian Health Services. This department is responsible for all housekeeping functions generated from activity within the hospital and clinics. Housekeeping is called to clean biohazardous spills occurring inside/outside the hospital. Flexibility with duties will be necessary as needs arise. Performs a full range of housekeeping/custodial cleaning duties. Responsibilities Cleans and sanitizes floor surfaces (patient rooms, in and out patient areas, Emergency Department, restrooms, hallways) throughout specified hospital/clinic area by use of chemicals, microfiber mops, machines (floor machines, vacuums). Strips and waxes and also buffs hard floor surfaces, (such as vinyl tiling and all types of flooring) on a scheduled basis by using the floor scrubbing and buffing machines. Collects all general waste from waste receptacles throughout specified hospital, clinics, and office areas, including infectious wastes. These waste and bio material are stored in the appropriate area outside the hospital complex for pick-up by contracted refuse hauling services. Practices all safety, infection control, and security regulations that are applicable at the facility and are in accordance with the Housekeeping Policy and Procedures. This includes choosing appropriate PPE for the task, following the manufacturer's instructions for use of chemicals and cleaning from clean to dirty areas in a sensible fashion, changing PPE as needed. Operates, cleans maintains, and stores all power equipment and associated materials in the proper manner. Reports defective floor cleaning equipment and supplies to the supervisor or shift leader. Physical effort: Moving heavy hospital furniture, equipment, patients, climbing ladders and materials. Stooping, stretching, bending, crawling and kneeling are frequently required to complete housekeeping work. Subject to lifting 50 pounds plus on occasional basis. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must be able to perform the following duties without more than normal supervision (Screen Out).Your resume must demonstrate your knowledge, skills and abilities in performing the following types of tasks: WG-3: Follow oral or written instructions and/or work orders; perform janitorial/custodial, and grounds maintenance duties, including mopping, waxing, and polishing floors; cleaning walls, ceilings, room partitions and polishing fixtures; emptying trash receptacles. Cleanup spills, debris, and litter from common areas; and remove soiled and/ or contaminated items following strict procedures to prevent cross contamination. You may need to lift and move heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds. You may need to stand for prolonged periods on concrete floors. You may need to bend, stoop, walk, stand and climb. Subject to exposure to infectious diseases in the clinic, danger of falling off stepladders when cleaning high areas, hanging drapery or curtains. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
