Engineer II/III (EIT) - Community Infrastructure

Overview:
This position is involved in the practical application of engineering principles to design infrastructure for an array of local government infrastructure projects. The best candidate is one who enjoys working on a wide variety of civil engineering project types for public sector clients.
Responsibilities:
Assist a Project Manager in the execution of engineering projects, including but not limited to the production of project plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction phase services
Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements and cost
Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the projects purpose and need
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
Prepare written technical reports and engineering studies using approved company format
Direct production work of technicians
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in civil, environmental, or agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or equivalent. If equivalent, applicant must have the ability to obtain EIT certification within 6 months of hire and obtain EIT certification within 6 months as a condition of continued employment.
2 years' experience in civil design - public works, roadways, drainage, linear water/wastewater projects, parks, and/or site design, preferably for a consulting firm and/or local government
Familiar with engineering principles, techniques, and procedures
Experience using computer aided design techniques
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies
Working knowledge of Microstation and MS Office Suite. Prior experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional overtime
Must be reliable and dependable
