CLA is currently seeking a Tax Manager/Director – Sales & Use Tax to join our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice.
How you’ll create opportunities in this Tax Manager/Director – Sales & Use Tax role:
Working closely with State and Local Tax (“SALT”) Northeast Regional Leadership, you will help drive SALT growth both internally and externally, with a focus on sales/use tax consulting projects, while identifying Seamless opportunities for CLA:
Manage SALT sales/use tax projects while identifying opportunities for client growth, and risk mitigation in a myriad of projects including, but not limited to, nexus studies; taxability decision matricies; voluntary disclosure agreement proceedings; prospective sales/use tax compliance; sales tax mapping/automation projects; exemption certificate queries; reverse audits; and due diligence projects (M&A)
Represent clients in negotiations with taxing authorities in connection with sales/use tax audits; state tax notices; Amnesty programs; voluntary disclosure agreement programs
Identify clients and targets for SALT’s Sales Tax Outsourcing (“STO”) team for sales/use tax compliance
Develop Northeast staff (associates and senior associates) and continue to assist with growing and training the SALT Northeast team
Partner with Industry leaders and NTO to develop thought leadership for sales/use tax
Meet with/build relationships with CRLs and industry leads to drive SALT growth and brand SALT internally and externally to bring in new clients and new SALT opportunities to existing clients
Contribute to SALT’s Northeast growth plans and national growth network initiatives, including recruiting efforts
Serve as a leader to ensure all CLA risk management polices and procedures, including engagement set-up; client billing and collections; and document retention policies are followed and that the SALT staff are trained and aware of all policies.
What You Will Need
You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
You have a minimum of 6 years in public accounting or professional services with experience in State and Local Tax (SALT)
CPA required (JD or Enrolled Agent (EA) may be accepted in lieu of CPA certification)
