Training Platform DevOps Engineer
New York, NY, United States
Datadog Training empowers busy cloud engineering professionals at companies of all sizes to scale, secure, and optimize their distributed systems. We deliver on four areas for the company: online courses at https://learn.datadoghq.com/, certification exams, live workshops (including our DASH conference and other field workshops year round), and engineering onboarding curriculum.
As a Training Platform DevOps Engineer, you will work with the Sr. Training Platform Engineer to automate the creation of lab environments, migration of data for reporting, and scheduling of field workshops. You’ll write shell scripts, generate Docker images, write GitHub Actions, and deploy AWS Lambda functions. We use a dozen tools including Instruqt, Airtable, and Metabase, but we don’t expect you to know all of them.
Given that this role supports the primarily remote Training and Community teams, we encourage you to apply if you can work remotely from anywhere in North America, or optionally as a hybrid employee in our NYC headquarters.

What You’ll Do:
Build automation around our live lab environment workstations and online tutorials
Optimize lab load times and create disk images so we can teach students to integrate Datadog with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud providers, and databases
Improve the authoring experience so that our Technical Curriculum Developers can focus on creating the best explanations and hands-on labs for our customers
Write data pipelines to ingest data from the systems that power our learning environments
Automate the scheduling and delivery of field workshops
Write scripts to connect our internal project tracking systems and our external customer events
Who You Are:

You care about enabling professionals to learn to use cloud infrastructure tools for monitoring, security, and performance. Experience with teaching, learning management systems, and interactive lab environments is appreciated but not required.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
