Financial Systems Analyst

Steptoe & Johnson LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking a Financial Systems Analyst to join our Accounting & Finance Department.
Supports and assists to maintain the firm’s financial systems; participates in the implementation of new software platforms and upgrades; resolves end user financial system issues and provides software application support; provides support for financial system procedures, documentation and end user training; assist with configuration and data management in the finance system modules, and provides analysis of issues and concepts used in the implementation of new procedures; assists with month-end close support duties and provides reporting solutions.
Essential Functions
Assist in daily maintenance of the firm’s existing automated financial systems; participate in maintenance and updates for all financial database servers working with IT Department
Participates in implementing new software programs and upgrades; interact with users to resolve issues and test specifications for custom reports, inquiries, processes and IDE changes for Elite Enterprise and 3E; test customizations
Resolve end user financial system issues and provides software application support; participate in logging of financial systems bug/issue and follow up regularly for successful resolution or acceptable workaround
Respond to potential issues in financial databases and assist in analysis for integrity problems and correct errors as necessary, assist to identify root cause and provide recommendations for corrections
Administer user security for key business users of financial systems
Provide support for and assist in firm financial close and monthly reporting needs
Analyze current business processes, makes recommendations for improvements, and participate in system changes with an understanding of change control procedures and communications
Monitor and assist with issues in the soft cost, rate, journal, AR and other finance system loads, resolves related issues
Work on various projects as assigned by the Financial Systems Manager

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a computer or business-related field or acceptable work experience in similar area
1-3 years of financial systems/business process experience (preferably within a global law or professional services firm)
Success Factors
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Basic understanding of the transact SQL systems environment
Basic familiarity with the table structures within accounting system
Ability to act as a technical analyst and QA for Finance projects as required
Ability to assist with system changes and migrations
Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate results
Desire to learn and understand in-depth technical skills and have familiarity with law firm financial systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with staff of varying technical expertise
Work Environment
Full time work commitment with a combination of in-office and remote
The anticipated base salary for this position is $100,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
