Project Manager for Opioid Response, Executive Bureau

Boston, MA, United States

Project Manager for Opioid Response

Executive Bureau

The AGO is dedicated to tackling the opioid crisis using a multi-disciplinary approach. The work includes litigating, removing barriers to treatment, promoting access to naloxone, investigating pharmaceutical marketing and pharmacy dispensing practices, drafting legislation, and enhancing public education and awareness efforts across the state.

Primary Duties: The Project Manager leads the AGO's opioid response work. The role is responsible for implementing a strategy that takes an equitable public safety and public health approach to substance use disorder - prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery. The response work aims to improve access to medical, mental health and substance use care and prevention services, prevent overdose deaths, disrupt drug trafficking networks, and provide free prevention education programming to all public middle schools through Project Here, a grant funded initiative. The role supports case work, litigation, grant funding, federal and state policy and legislation, equity initiatives, and community engagement. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

Strategy & coordination - engage, share information, and provide guidance on the AG's opioid response strategy with the bureaus across the office.

Communications - draft talking points for opioid-related AG events, press, social media; and align public messaging across bureaus on work related to the opioid crisis and substance use disorder.

Constituent support - respond to constituent inquiries related to the opioid epidemic and substance use disorder.

Subject matter knowledge and advisory role - serve as a knowledge repository of opioid-related work across the state and best practices; and draw on experts in prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery to support AGO work.

Outreach and engagement - work with advocates, communities, and people with lived experience, including members of the Attorney General's Family Advisory Council; local governmental agencies and regional partners; non-profits and faith-based organizations; substance use disorder treatment and recovery providers, mental health providers, and other health care providers; schools; and local law enforcement across our State to address the opioid epidemic.

Programming and funding - facilitate strategic and cross-bureau planning to develop, launch, and fund initiatives that align with AG priorities. Such initiatives may include programs, policies, and procedures, and guidelines that impact first responders, the criminal justice system, child welfare and foster care, and behavioral health systems.

Policy & legislation - monitor and support policies and legislation that could impact the opioid epidemic.

Settlement implementation - work with AGO staff and other state agencies to support the implementation of the AGO's statewide opioid settlements.
