Water/Wastewater Operations Manager

Perform tasks necessary for the day-to-day operations of municipal water and wastewater systems, which includes the operation and maintenance of water wells, distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and pump stations. Manages and assists crew members to maintain these systems.

Manages crew members to accomplish assigned and required tasks.
Maintain a clean job site at all plant, well, and pump station locations.
Monitor, clean, maintain, and secure tools, equipment, and company vehicles daily to eliminate potential hazards and/or losses.
Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed daily.
Other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior experiencereading and understanding maps and drawings.
Basic mathematical and writing skills.
Communication and people skills to work successfully with fellow employees.
Ability to read meters and gauges and complete reports.
Ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical problems
Knowledge of plumbing for water and wastewater systems.
Knowledge and understanding of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the maintenance of water and wastewater facilities and systems.
Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Required Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Class D Water and Class 3 Wastewater Operator Certification preferred. Ability to obtain one required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a water/wastewater operator preferred.
Prior experience in plumbing of water/wastewater systems (mains, service lines, and water meters).
Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license) required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred.
Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, water, and sewage.
Ability to work in trenches and other confined spaces.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
