JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Manager with a specialized focus in nonprofit organizations to join our dynamic team. The Tax Manager will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive tax services and strategic guidance to our nonprofit clients. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations applicable to nonprofits, along with a passion for supporting organizations that make a positive impact in our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tax Planning and Compliance:

Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency for nonprofit clients.

Prepare and review annual tax returns, including Form 990, 990-T, 5500 and state filings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Provide guidance on tax-exempt status, unrelated business income tax (UBIT), and other tax-related matters specific to nonprofits.

Advisory Services:

Advise clients on complex tax issues, including charitable giving, grant compliance, and structuring of charitable programs.

Conduct research on tax laws and regulations affecting nonprofits and communicate findings to clients in a clear and concise manner.

Collaborate with clients to develop tax-efficient strategies for fundraising, investments, and other financial activities.

Relationship Management:

Cultivate strong relationships with nonprofit clients, serving as a trusted advisor and resource for all tax-related matters.

Coordinate with internal teams, including audit and consulting professionals, to deliver integrated solutions that meet clients' needs.

Proactively identify opportunities to add value and expand services to existing clients, fostering long-term partnerships.

Compliance Oversight:

Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, ensuring timely and accurate filings.

Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations impacting nonprofits and communicate updates to clients and colleagues.

Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in tax services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in tax compliance and consulting, with a focus on nonprofit organizations.

Deep knowledge of tax laws and regulations applicable to nonprofits, including IRS Form 990 reporting requirements (5500 a plus).

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to client situations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to clients and team members.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
